Average, user experience needs improvement. Pleasant check-in experience, but a bag with a bottle of water and a cookie seemed a bit cheesy for "Platinum Elite" or whatever status I'm supposed to have. Was warned in-room AC wasnt working which was good form (and not an issue for us given the weather). Got upgraded from King to King Suite, which sure sounded good. Suite itself was spacious and LR was minimally but adequately furnished for a business meeting. Rest of the user experience has been another story. Closet is in the LR space right by the entryway, at other end of the suite from the BR which has no place to hang clothes. Bath was missing a shower curtain, staff couldn't provide one from desk inventory, had to wait till housekeeping showed up at 8:50 slowing down the schedule. Low water pressure in sink tap, cups were all plastic/styrofoam. Body wash too creamy took a while to wash off. Breakfast was a fail, esp. for health conscious or vegetarian/vegan eaters, options are all variations on carb + sugar bombs. No nuts or proteins, greens. Food bar seems stuck in the 50s (better half points out they wouldn't have had yoghurt let alone flavored versions back then). Amount of single use crockery/cutlery + packaging waste generated was depressing. Phone didn't connect to guest services, dedicated button got a busy tone, dialing 0 went to the hotel front desk, kept looping back on itself. TV Channel guide was off and the designated CNN channel kept showing Fox news. 🤣 Would like to stay here again bec. we plan to visit the area more frequently in the near future and this location and price point hit our sweet spot. Was the user experience worth $140 a night plus taxes? So far no.

This Holiday Inn Express has been around for years. I stayed in this hotel back in 2017 and nothing has changed. The hotel is located in the Northern part of Vancouver and is one of the only hotels in this area. The main reason I booked this hotel was for logistics and it was available at an excellent rate when I booked it. The staff at this hotel were kind and friendly when checking in and gave me two keys to my room. The rooms are dated and in need of an update. I could see that the cleaning staff does their best to keep the aging rooms as clean as possible. My room was a large double queen that had an additional seating area in it. The bathroom was spotless as well. My carpet had stains on it and the furniture looked dated as well. On a positive note, the wifi worked great, my room was very spacious, and my bed was very comfortable. The desk has a glass surface on it which did not seem to mesh well with my laptop mouse, and luckily I had a mouse pad with me. I liked the additional room for seating as it was comfortable and a great spot to read. I did not use the fitness center as I worked out at a local CrossFit gym. I did not eat in the hotel either as I had my meals offsite. Overall this hotel is a good value for the area but it needs a refresh as the carpets, drapes, heating and cooling systems, and the furniture are all outdated.

While the staff was friendly the hotel is old, dumpy and disgustingly dirty. No baseboards, stained linens and evidence that linens aren’t being changed between guests. Used linens are in the hallway and stairwell. You leave the hotel feeling dirty!

Worst Holiday Inn I've Ever Seen

Let me preface this by saying that I've never written a negative review for a hotel and have stayed at some great Holiday Inns. However, this was the shabbiest hotel I've ever stayed in - see photos. We paid $250 for this room. We were above the pool area and the hotel air conditioners were right outside our window, so it was very noisy at times. The carpets were dirty (God I hope those were raisins smashed into the carpet), mystery scratches on the door, there was no base trim running along the carpet and wall, water damage cracks in ceiling, shower trays need recaulking, all the lamps were mismatched/broken, the only accessible outlet was behind the nightstand and you had to unplug the clock to use it, there were what looked like blood stains on the sheets/pillow/bedskirt (possible previous bedbug infestation), poor breakfast selection, etc. The desk person was always outside smoking, but would come in to check people in so at least she was attentive if absent.

NICE CLEAN AND CONVENIENT HOTEL

We spent 14 nights here (in two different rooms). Beds are comfortable, room was clean. We used hot tub a lot on this trip, enjoyable! We were in town to visit family in the area. Breakfast was good, but could have used a bit more variety. (I realize most folks don’t stay as long as we did). The breakfast staff was super nice as were the desk clerks and housekeeping staff. 24 hour pool and hot tub plus exercise room. My only complaints was the bathroom doors in both bathrooms would not stay partially open, they either had to be all the way open or latched shut. Seems like maintenance could make an adjustment for that…maybe? We arrived after 11 PM due to flight delay, and the front door was locked with a sign to use room key. That’s great if you have a room key! A bell or buzzer would have been helpful. We called the hotel and the desk clerk came right out, and we got checked in. Hotel management…please consider adding a bell or some notification other than calling. We visit once every year or two, the locale is convenient so it’s likely we will stay here again. It’s very near two interstates. Free lighted parking in front and rear.
